Women United
Ministry identity · Symbol system
Women United is a branch of D.R.A.W., Divinely Reaching All Women, a ministry shaped by the story of the woman at the well in John 4. Women United needed an identity of its own, but it still had to feel connected to the ministry and the story behind it.
The symbol carries most of that story in one shape. At first glance it reads as a droplet, a reference to the well. The same form also reads as a flame, representing the Holy Spirit. Inside the shape, the strokes and negative space form a W and a U for Women United.
The challenge was getting those ideas to work together without turning the logo into a pile of symbols. The meaning is there if you look for it, but the mark still has to work before anyone hears the explanation.
That matters when an identity has to leave the screen. The symbol needed to stay recognizable in one color, on a shirt, and even at the scale of a lapel pin. The script wordmark gives the full identity a more personal voice, while the symbol can stand on its own when the full name is not practical.
